ABOUT MATTI
Matti began to play golf at an early age. While entering the University of Louisville, Kentucky, he was the No. 1 ranked amateur in Germany and leading member of the German National Golf Team, culminating in winning the European Amateur Championship in 2019 & 2020 as well as the European Amateur Team Championship in 2020. Low competitive round as an amateur: 62 (-10)
Following his success, he earned himself valuable spots on the PGA and European Tour. Matti participated in the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational, 2021 US Open, 2021 Porsche European Open, 2021 BMW International Open and last but not least the prestigious 2021 Open Championship – his final tournament as an amateur.
Matti Schmid is the 3rd German player in history to earn back to back playing privileges on both PGA Tour and DP World Tour in his ‘Rookie’ season as well as in his 2nd year on Tour.
